Bramble was a web-based virtual venue aimed at hosting events during the Coved-19 Lockdown. It featured a 'scrapbook-like' 2d world, and most maps had multiple 'themes' that would swap the images at runtime.
At Bramble, I worked alongside the artists and lead designer to create new event spaces and did a lot of work to maintain the existing maps. I also did a lot of work cleaning up the repository / library they used, and even spun up a tool to help do it.
It was a very hands-on role that challenged me with creating the best environment possible with the assets I was given and some basic specs. I had to carefully plan for the number of people expected to be in the space, and focus on usability and the desired purpose above all else.

Maze Scavenger Starting clue

Trippy Hidden Objects map prompt.
At one point, an initiative was started to have some maps with activities built in, but with an almost non-existent scope for interactive objects. I created 3 of these maps, each for a different audience size.
- A Forest maze and scavenger hunt consisting of a series of cryptic clues. Intended as a short activity for one or more small groups to complete together.
- A Forest maze and scavenger hunt consisting of a series of cryptic clues. Intended as a short activity for one or more small groups to complete together.
- A hidden object search across the giant beach map, including 2 full-map lists and a smaller list for each 'room'. Intended as a side activity for a large gathering of 20+ people.
- A more abstracted and individual-oriented hidden objects hunt in the trippy theme. It featured a teleportation-web map and a special puzzle that spelled out a hint to where the secret exit was. Intended for a small to medium group to puzzle out individually or in pairs.
Tooling

The tool mentioned was one that allowed us to preview the same map across multiple themes before the map was live. It was not difficult to set up a find-and-replace function to swap out the references in the Tiled object file to achieve this effect- it's all just data, after all. Additional work was done to ensure that the tool was decently 'accident proof', including a help popup and a function to revert changes to the object files when the program closed.
The tool also included a batch file re-namer and a file variant creator, which helped speed up certain processes significantly when changes were needed or new themes were added.
